The Reaching Japanese for Christ Network (RJC) links believers who share a love for and interest in Japanese people and seek to share the gospel with Japanese expatriates in North America. Few in Japan know Christ as their personal savior. Less than one percent of the population is Christian, and those who attend a church comprise less than one half of one percent. North America is home to more than 500, 000 Japanese students and workers in any given year, providing abundant opportunities to plant the seed of the gospel in their lives outside of the cultural and professional pressures of Japanese society. RJC Midwest is dedicated to encouraging and equipping Christ’s workers among the Japanese in more than a dozen states in the central United States.
The Reaching Japanese for Christ Network (RJC)は、一時的に北アメリカに来る日本人に関心を持って、キリストの愛を日夜共有しているクリスチャン達の場所です。
日本人のごくわずかな人達が、キリストを自分の救い主であると信じています。日本におけるクリスチャンの人口の１％以下といわれ。さらにそこから、教会に参加する人は、１％の半分より少ないと言われています。
そんな中、どの年を見てみても、毎年約５０万人の留学生と会社員とその家族がここ北アメリカで生活しています。そしてこの日本人の多くが、日本社会での職業的重圧、または日本独自の文化的なものから離れ、福音を聞く特別な機会を与えられています。
RJC Midwestは、おもにここアメリカ中西部で日本人にキリストを伝える働きをしている方々を励まし、また、日本人宣教に取り組んでいる人に、よき学びと備えの機会を提供し、仕えています。その働きとクリスチャンミニストリーのネットワークは、アメリカ中西部１２州以上に渡ろうとしています。
History and Vision
The RJC vision is “to glorify God by partnering together to give the approximately half million Japanese who (temporarily) reside in Canada and the United States an opportunity hear to hear the gospel and become disciples of Jesus Christ!”
The beginning of RJC can be pinpointed to a hot, muggy day just north of Tokyo in August of 2000. The discussion that day about sharing the gospel with Japanese living in America was carried to Seattle, where a number of groups, churches and individuals were ministering to Japanese with virtually no collaboration. The first RJC conference took place at Northshore Baptist Church in February of 2001 to bring these ministries together. Our primary task is establishing effective networks and partnerships to make disciples of Christ among the Japanese. The RJC network seeks to connect believers around this vision, equip them to effectively deliver the gospel and develop partnerships to help Japanese grow in their faith while in North America so they return to Japan as vibrant followers of Christ. The RJC Midwest Conference is the latest in a growing number of RJC regional conferences, in addition to the annual International Conference. These gatherings offer life-nourishing teaching from and fellowship with missionaries, pastors, Japanese Christians and para-church specialists in Japanese evangelism. As a body with many parts, we carry out the exciting work of sharing the gospel with Japanese.
歴史とビジョン
「北米に（短期滞在で）暮らす約５０万人の日本人に、福音を聞く機会を与え、また、イエスキリストの弟子となる機会を与えるために、互いにパートナーとして働き、神に栄光をささげること。」
RJCの始まりは、２０００年８月の、とある暑い夏の日の、北関東での出来事にさかのぼります。 こんな会話がありました。 シアトル地域では、た くさん のグループ、教会、そして、個人ベースで、日本人への伝道が行われているが、これらの素晴らしい働き同士を結びつけるようなつながりが、ほとんどないと。この時の会話の内容は、そのまま、シアトルに持ち帰られ、委員会が発足され、２００１年の２月に、ノースショアバプティスト教会にて、初めての RJCカンファレンスを開くことになりました。
RJCの主要な目的は、日本人の間で、キリストの弟子を作るために有効的なネットワークや、パートナーシップを築くことです。RJCネットワークとは、RJCのビジョンに賛同する人々を結びつけ、それらの人が必要な情報や資料を入手でき、それらが、結果、北米で日本人がキリストを受け入れ、信仰を強くし、日本に帰るときには、キリストの活発な証し人として帰る事ができるように助けることです。
RJC Midwestカンファレンスは、毎年のRJC National Conferenceや、様々な地域でのカンファレンス、また、いくつかのイベントを通して開催されることになりました。
カンファレンスでは、日本人伝道の専門家、宣教師、牧師、キリスト信者となった日本人たちと伴に交わり、また、彼らから、キリスト者にとって大切な、魂の満たしの教えを学ぶことができます。
１つの体がたくさんの器官からなるように、わたしたちは、日本人に福音を共有できる働きに興奮し、それを実行しようとしています。
