JCFN Mochi Fellowship

I’m sorry a little  late to update this info. Last month we had a Mochi tsuki Fellowship at Mr and Mrs Nakamura’s home at south side of Chicago. There are many young Christ followers gathered and had a wonderful fellowship. In May, their annual conference (Central Conference) will be held in Judson College. Just go with your friends!

Football 101

About 100 Japanese moms, dads, kids and grandparents heard speaker Gary Hrivnak share memories of playing with the Chicago Bears.  Gary and Roscoe DeChalus prepared everyone for the Super Bowl by presenting basic football rules and regulations.

We were encouraged to hear Gary’s story of overcoming his personal struggles after sustaining an injury while playing for the Bears.  Even though we face difficulties and challenges, we should not be discouraged, for our hope is in God.  “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you. 約１００人のお父さん、お母さん、子供達、おじいちゃんにいたるまで、フットボール１０１のイベントに参加してくれました。元シカゴベアーズのゲーリー氏と、ロスコさんが来てくださって、日本人には、難しいフットボールのルールをやさしく、楽しく教えてくれました。そして、ゲーリー氏が、証しの時を持ってくれました。

ゲーリーさんは、シカゴベアーズ時代、アキレス腱のケガによって、引退することになり、希望を失った思いの中にいました。しかし、教会に導かれ、聖書を読んで，神様の中に希望があることがわかりました。エレミヤ２９：１１わたしはあなたがたのために立てている計画をよく知っているからだ。ー主の御告げーそれはわざわいではなくて、平安を与える計画であり、あなたがたに将来と希望を与えるためのものだ。どん底にあったゲーリーさんの証は、多くの日本人ビジネスマンや、そのご家族に多くの励ましを与えてくれました。Japanese Football 101 Links…

Movie and Music Night!?

Do you remember Paul Nethercott who was one of the speakers at RJC Midwest conference? His family welcomed some Christians and non-Christian friends to watch the movie “Jitensha.” He is the director of the movie. (He also involved some movie productions like “Mujo NO KAZE,” “KAKURENBO,” “My Stunt Double,” and etc… ) Also, we had a guest from Japan. They are Christian Music artists. They are Yumiko Beck and Mika Tanaka. Yumiko are making original Christian songs and sometimes sings at Live House in Japan. (http://web.mac.com/yumikobeck) Mika Takana is a part of Christian music units: Wings. Several local Christian musicians and Mika and Yumiko got together playing some Christian music. RJCのスピーカーの一人であった、Paul Nethercottさんを覚えていますか？ポールさんご家族が、何人かのクリスチャンとノンクリスチャンを招待してくれました。そして、ポールさんが、ディレクターだった映画、自転車の映画をいっしょに見ました。（彼は、他のいくつかの映画に関わっています：無常の風邪、かくれんぼ、マイスタントマンなどなど）そして、ちょうどその日、日本から、二人のクリスチャンアーティストが来てくださっていました。ベック由美子さんは、オリジナルのクリスチャンの曲を手がけたり、日本のライブハウスで演奏したりと、多方面に活躍する、クリスチャンシンガーです！(http://web.mac.com/yumikobeck) 高奈美香さんは音楽ユニット：Wingsのリードシンガーを担当し、日本全国の教会で、コンサートを開いたりしています。シカゴの地元のクリスチャンアーティストと、由美子さん、美香さんが共演して、いくつかのクリスチャンソングを演奏し、歌ってくださいました。感謝！それと、ポールさんピザおいしかったです。ありがとう。

Gyoza party!

On January 23, 11 young Japanese speaking believers got together for a gyoza making party as an outreach to young Japanese non believers in the Chicagoland area. We had a great time of fellowship and feasting on gyoza as well as getting to know 3 non believers who came. Please pray for the salvation of these 3 Japanese people as well as wisdom and discernment in how to go about planning another gyoza/food party outreach in the future. １月２３日、１１人の若いクリスチャン達が集まって、シカゴにいるノンクリスチャンの生徒に伝道するために、餃子パーティーのときを持ちました。たのしい食事と、すばらしい交わりの時を、来られた３人のノンクリスチャンと伴に持ちました。参加された３人のクリスチャンが救われるようにお祈りください。また、次回の食事を含めた伝道に関する知恵とよい判断が与えられるようにお祈りください！

Wheaton College Japan prayer meeting!!!

Wheaton College has been having a weekly prayer meeting for Japan for over 2 years now. Led by Junior, Will Thompson, the Japan prayer group regularly has about 3 or 4 regular attendees. During our prayer time, we lift up Japanese ministries and ministers that we know personally as well as Japan and Japanese people as a whole. Last year, Dr. Paul Isihara led a group of students to Japan over to the summer to work with Nerima Church of God in Tokyo. Several of the members attend Chicago Japanese Mission Church in Schaumburg, and we pray regularly for Pastor Yugo Kobari and the ministry there. Lately, God has been answering our prayers to become more involved in outreach to the Japanese community in Chicago and given us many opportunities to do so as of late. Please pray for us that God would give us an even stronger desire to prayer for Japan and that he would connect us to more students on campus to pray for Japan.

ウィートンカレッジでは、毎週日本のための祈り会が持たれています。すでに、もう２年を越えようとしています。（すばらしいですね！）大学２年生のウィルトンプソンを中心に、毎回３、４名の方々が集まって祈り会の時を持っています。その祈りの時に、色々な、日本人のミニストリー、個人的に知っている、日本人のミニストリーのこと、また、日本全体の日本人のためにお祈りしています。ポールー石原教授は、去年の夏、何人かの生徒を連れて、東京にある、練馬神の教会を訪れ、短期宣教の時を持ちました。また、この祈り会に参加している方々は、シカゴのシャンバーグにあるChicago Japanese Mission Churchに通っています。そして、小針勇吾先生のためや、また、教会で行なわれているミニストリーについてお祈りしています。そして、最近祈りが聞かれ、シカゴにある日本人に伝道する機会をさらに、以前より頂いています。最後に、是非、私たちがもっと日本人のために熱く祈れるように祈ってください。そして、日本のために祈りたいという祈りの手がもっと他の生徒達からおこされるように祈ってください。

Japanese Film Night

Interested in a creative way to learn about Japanese culture? This is what prompted a group of friends in RJC to meet together, Japanese and American Christians, to watch a Japanese film and discuss the Christian and Japanese worldviews. The film that was chosen was Akira Kurosawa’s Ikiru (to live), a 1950s film exploring question about a meaningful life. Afterwords, the group met for Japanese dining and to discuss together the implications of this film for contemporary life and missions in Japan. The group is already planning for the next film night. クリエイティブに日本の文化について学ぶことに興味はありますか？RJCに参加した友達から出たアイディアで、日本人とアメリカ人のクリスチャンが、日本の映画を見て、日本人のクリスチャンのことや、日本人の世界感について、ディスカッションの時を持ちました。黒沢明監督の「生きる」という映画を見ました。彼の１９５０年代のこの映画は、生きるということはどういうことだろうか？ということを考えさせるものです。映画を見た後、この映画が何を指しているのかということを、日本の宣教や、日本の現在の生活という観点から、日本の食事を食べながら語りました。また、近い将来この映画鑑賞会をまた持ちたいという声が上がってきました。
